Like him or not, legitimate(合法) or not, Barry Bonds is base ball's new home run king.
Bonds hit NO. 756 early last month, breaking the record held for 33 years by Hank Aaron.
Bonds watched as the ball sailed over(飛過) the fence(柵欄) and disappeared into the first few rows.
Then he raised both arms over his head like a victorious prizefighter, fists clenched(雙手握拳), and took off(起跑) to round the bases.
"I knew i hit it," onds said.
"I knew i got it. i was like(我的反應是), phew(呼), finally"
His son Nikolai was bouncing(跳上跳下) on home plate(本壘板), and after a long embrace(擁抱) the rest of the famil joined in.
Even baseball legend(傳奇人物) Willie Maysremoved his cap and congratulated his godson(乾兒子).
Bonds got his wish of breaking the record at home, perhaps(或許) the only place where he knew the cheers would outnumber the jeers(嘲弄) from those who strongly suspect him of steroid(類固醇) abuse.
In a matter of years(十幾年內), Bonds went from a wiry(瘦而結實) leadoff(第一棒) hitter with Pittsburgh in 1986 to a bulked-up(壯碩) slugger(強大者).
That transformation is at the heart of his many doubters, who believe Bonds cheated to accomplish his feats(功績) and should not be considered the record-holder.
"This record is not tainted(瑕疪) at all. At all(一點都沒有).Period(沒什麼好說的)" Bonds said, rejecting any suggestion(暗示) that this milestone was stained(玷污) by the steroid allegations.
